Would indeed be a good reason to find a better one (and release the
code for it....)

You seem to be full of good ideas :-)
Does that mean that also the color correct code is not available?
Is that a part of the library, or in the PTStitcher program?

Aargh.  Never ran across that.  This is indeed a strong hint that the
algorithm needs to be improved.
