I just can tell, my debian amd64-etch ist rock solid, 30 days at work
and no problem so far. Just some small missing features (no mplayer
win-codec-pack e.g.).
I suggest you take another system than SuSe :-)

To be OnTopic: I haven't measured the speed, but I assume 64bit t be
slightly faster than 32bit. Til yet I haven't found a real safe way to
really make a test.
