Yes, but it can dramatically affect the quality (and speed) of the _output_ and
while it is not a familiar setting for most, in the context of panoramic
stitching it is an important output parameter to the user...

Because none of us have any access to the source code for PTStitcher. Prof.
Dersch, who wrote the original panotools that is at the heart of hugin,
released most but not all of the code for the related tools. There are many
related messages in the archives of this list.
