[ptx] nona cannot render a single (or multiple) image

Still getting the same bug with latest CVS, trying to stitch two 
images together.

Some more details:

- It only happens when JPG, PNG or TIFF are selected in 'Output File 
  Options'.

- Small Multiple TIFF and Multilayer TIFF are ok.

- I got a segfault when I tried to render a larger (4737x5782) 
  multi-layer TIFF, but can't reproduce it.
