>From the change logs, it looks like this problem may have been
addressed, however the fix has not been incorporated into the OS X
build.

This is a repeatable, fatal error which renders the program useless
(and manifests itself -after- the user has spent a long time setting
control points which are not saved).

To repeat: 
1. Install hugin for OS X
2. Select two or more images.
3. Set control points
4. Open optimize tab.
5. Click <optimize now!>
6. Blammo, crash reporter pops up to "report crash to apple" (hee!)
