I think it's a bad idea to concentrate so much on inetrface issues.
Even if the UI is not perfect, whether in an objective or subjective sense, the problem, at this stage, is 'what', not
yet 'how' or (a fortiori) 'with which decoration'. Anyway, as features are added, the UI will have to be redesigned.
The discussion about 'expert' mode seems to me irrelevant: the user of hugin is somehow an expert as the process is not
automatized as it is in other applications.
So, Pablo, Douglas, and others, thanks a lot for your work and, please, continue it as it pleases you, in this way that
has until now been quite successful.
that said, I've got a huge (features) wish list...
arf, one tiny wish: a way to clear the image cache without having to exit Hugin...
