[ptx] Switch to autotools?

Hi there!

I looked at the mailinglist archives and there seemed to be a short
discussion a year ago (in may 2003) about whether to use autotools or not.
Currently hugin is using a perl configure script and a "fake" mingw-version.

I know that autotools are a little heavier, but they provide nice features
like convenience libraries, debug/release targets and also cross-platform
development (I actually compiled panoglview.exe for windows on linux. The
mingw32 cross-compiler and also wxWidgets for cross-compilation is
already in debian, so it is *really* nice not to switch OS every time).

Currently I have problems compiling CVS hugin from scratch on debian/sid.
Of course all issues are not severe and solvable, but if there are no
objections I could rewrite hugin's Makefile generation with autotools.
