Summary: Meaningless "did not find a matching file type" error

Initial Comment:
When I added a JPG file in Images panel, Hugin displayed 

"Error During Stitching  Precondition Violation!  did not find a 
matching file type (vigra_impex2/codecmanager.cpp:185)"

even though hugin is reading jpeg file correctly. This error is 
displayed on other operations as well.

(I'm happy to announce this is the first bug report from Hugin on 
Mac. I hope this is not platform specific...)
