Except for the image processing part, we're using pretty standart c++
(with namespaces, but thats just a sugar coat). The STL (standart
template library) is used for arrays, sets and assocative arrays (maps). 

"Thinking in C++" is a nice online book about C++. the second volume
also contains a lot about the advanced features of C++.
