I had the same idea and tested JPG with/without EXIF and TIFF without.
In all three cases the same behaviour:
- adding first image ist ok
- adding the second one crashes hugin with mentioned error message.

I hope my mingw/msys environment is ok and the compilation of wxWindows as
well?! I strictly followed your recommendation in windows_compile.txt.
