Meanwhile I solved the issue. I concluded to quickly in my last mail that it
cannot be a RAM issue, while it actually was one. I solved this by adding a
1GB swap partition and now it works as expected. Though I got a floating
point exception for a zero byte file (ok, that's not legal to import as
image anyway, but was a relict of a GIMP crash). So, loading of a zero-byte
file crashes hugin. This might be considered as a bug, and then might be
not :)
Whatever, hugin works just perfect for me now.
